Gauhati University has officially announced its Post Graduate (PG) Admission process for the academic session 2025–2026.
The university has launched an online portal where aspiring candidates can apply for various MA, MCom, and MSc programmes through the Gauhati University Post Graduate Entrance Test (GU PGET) 2025. 🎓 Gauhati University PG Admission 2025
Gauhati University is inviting applications from eligible graduates for admission into postgraduate courses under its university departments and affiliated colleges. Admission will be granted based on the candidate’s performance in the GU PGET 2025 examination. The official application portal is live on the university’s website: gauhati.ac.in.
📅 Important Dates
The online application process for GU PG Admission 2025 started on 23rd June 2025 and the last date to apply is 1st July 2025. Admit cards will be available for download from 5th July 2025 (after 5 PM). The entrance test is scheduled for 10th, 11th, and 12th July 2025. The result and merit list will be declared on 2nd August 2025, followed by admission on 5th and 6th August 2025. Classes will commence from 7th August 2025.
📌 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be graduates in the relevant subject with at least 24 credits (either with Major, Honours, or as part of a regular course). Students appearing in the 6th semester of BA, BSc, BCom, or BVoc in 2025 can also apply provisionally. However, such candidates must submit their final mark sheet within 7 days of the declaration of results, failing which their admission will be cancelled.
Candidates who have backlogs in earlier semesters may also apply provisionally, but they too must clear all pending papers and submit their final mark sheets within the stipulated time. For interdisciplinary courses, applicants are advised to check the specific eligibility criteria in the official information brochure.
🧾 Application Fee
The application fee varies based on the number of courses applied for. For one course, the fee is ₹800; for two courses, it is ₹1,600; and for three courses, it is ₹2,400. Payment must be made through online methods only (Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking), and a receipt is mandatory for final submission of the form.
📝 GU PGET 2025 Exam Pattern
GU PGET 2025 will be conducted in offline mode using pen and paper. The question paper will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be answered in 2 hours. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark, and for each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Applicants can choose a maximum of 3 subjects for the entrance test — one from traditional programmes and two from interdisciplinary programmes.

The entrance exam will be held at various centres across the Northeast region, including:
Gauhati University (Guwahati), J.B. College (Jorhat), M.C. College (Barpeta), Gurucharan College (Silchar), DHSK College (Dibrugarh)
Other centres include locations in Diphu, Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Dhubri, Nagaon, Shillong, Kohima, Aizawl, Imphal, Tripura, Darjeeling, Arunachal Pradesh, and more. Candidates can choose their preferred centre while filling the application form.
