How to Apply for a New Voter ID in 2025

Applying for a new voter ID card is an important step for every citizen who has just turned 18 or has never registered before. Your voter ID not only allows you to vote during elections but also serves as a valid identity proof for various purposes.



 Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens who are 18 years or above as of 1st January 2025.
  • Individuals who have not enrolled earlier.

Steps to Apply for New Voter ID

  • Visit the National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) https://www.nvsp.in or download the Voter Helpline App.
  • Register yourself and select Form-6 (New Voter Registration).
  • Fill in your details such as name, date of birth, gender, and address.

  • Upload scanned copies of:

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Birth Certificate / Age Proof
  3. Address Proof (Ration Card, Electricity Bill, Passport, etc.)
  • Submit the application online.
  • Track the status of your application using your reference ID.
  • After verification, the Election Commission will issue your EPIC (Voter ID Card).

Offline Method

  • Visit your nearest BLO (Booth Level Officer) or Election Office.
  • Collect and fill up Form-6.
  • Submit it along with documents and passport-size photos.
